Summary
FaceTite and a surgical facelift are not two grades of the same procedure — they solve different problems. FaceTite heats and contracts subcutaneous tissue through millimetre incisions, offering a shorter recovery and a more proportionate intervention for mild to moderate laxity with some excess fat.
A facelift physically repositions the SMAS layer and removes excess skin, which is the only reliable way to address established descent, but it requires deeper anaesthesia, a longer recovery and acceptance of a different risk profile.
The published evidence supports both within their respective limits, and one systematic review has explicitly questioned whether subsurface radiofrequency outperforms traditional methods. The honest position is that the right choice depends on your anatomy, your timeline and your tolerance for downtime — not on which technology sounds more modern.
If you are treated in Japan, add one more question to your list: confirm the device’s regulatory status, how it was obtained, and what that means for you. A clinic that answers that clearly is one worth trusting with your face.
If you have questions about FaceTite versus a surgical facelift, both BIOTOPE CLINIC (Shirokanedai, Minato-ku) and Kojimachi Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Clinic (Ichigaya, Chiyoda-ku) offer English-language consultation with Dr. Karibe and his team. FaceTite and Embrace RF are primarily handled at BIOTOPE CLINIC in Shirokanedai. English enquiries: LINE or WhatsApp.
